Painting pumpkins is one of my favorite fall activities. Picking out pumpkins to decorate the apartment and to paint is something I look forward to each year. The farm we’ve visited the past couple of years has the greatest selection of every type of pumpkin and gourd you can imagine. My favorites to paint are the white and orange medium sized sugar pumpkins. These also last for months, so I love that I’m able to keep them around long past the Halloween season all the way through Thanksgiving.

Each year I usually gravitate toward gold metallic paint for my pumpkins. This year was no different, except that I even painted the stems this time, which added that needed finishing touch. Between stripes, polka dots, chevrons, and a gold-dipped pumpkin, I just find creating simple and beautiful patterns like these so therapeutic. I enjoy sitting for a few hours to paint while letting my mind wander. I’ve always found activities like these to be enjoyable because they force me to separate from my technology for a while and get lost in a world of creativity.
