These cold, windy months can really take a toll on the skin. The harsh elements outdoors can cause dry skin and chapped lips, but even indoors, heating systems circulating dry, hot air can cause just as much damage. It is so important to stay hydrated and moisturized this time of year.

I have woken up with dry skin and a sore nose from breathing dry air all night. Sleeping with humidifier in the room, like this cool mist humidifier, makes all the difference. When I sleep with my humidifier on, I wake up breathing easier and with healthier skin. In addition to drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated and using a humidifier, the right products can keep your skin nourished and bright despite the elements.

La Roche-Posay Micellar Water  //  I love micellar water. I’ve been using micellar water to remove makeup and cleanse my face for the past 6 months, and it has never felt fresher! Micellar water is much gentler than traditional foaming cleansers, and since you don’t need to rinse off after, it’s not as drying.

Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Firming Serum  //  Despite the hefty price tag on this, for me, it is worth it to protect and nourish my skin in the winter. Sometimes moisturizer is not enough, so layering this nutrient rich serum underneath can provide that necessary added protection. Plus, it contains hyaluronic acid, which is known to be a powerful moisturizing and healing agent.

Origins High-Potency Night-a-Mins  //  I love this night cream. It’s not too thick and absorbs nicely into the skin overnight. With lots of vitamins to nourish and replenish the skin overnight, I love waking up with radiant and refreshed skin after using this at night. Plus, it smells great!

Ole Henriksen Truth Revealed Vitamin C Super Crème SPF 15  //  This day cream is nice because it is a bit thicker, which I like for an added barrier between my skin in the elements when I’m walking outside or spending lots of time indoors in a dry office. It is also so important to continue wearing SPF in the wintertime. Even though it is not as hot – and you may not think the sun is as strong – it definitely is! On overcast days, or after a fresh snowfall, it is the most important to have sun protection. UV rays can reflect off the clouds and snow and still cause damage.

Drunk Elephant Lippe  //  This lip balm is buttery and smooth and feels great alone or underneath lip color. I started using this after having pretty chapped lips. My lips were so much softer and smoother after using this regularly for about 4 days. There is nothing better than having shiny, pink healthy lips for days when lipstick just isn’t on your radar.

Lancôme Hydra-Intense Masque  //  Every once in awhile, I like to do a hydrating mask like this one. About once a week, it’s nice to relax and create a mini-spa experience for yourself and give your skin a little boost.

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream  //  Don’t forget about your hands. I absolutely hate when my hands are dry and my cuticles are a mess because of it. This shea butter hand cream has been my go-to for years. The scent is refreshing but not overwhelming and my hands feel silky soft after use.

Sugar + Olive Oil Scrub  //  This just might be one of the best kept secrets out there. Using about 1 cup of sugar and about a tablespoon of olive oil, I like to use this scrub on my entire body. You can use this on your face, but only very gently, to avoid irritation. You can scrub harder all over the rest of your body. The sugar granules exfoliate and the oil nourishes. This low cost alternative to other exfoliating scrubs is also the most effective scrub I’ve ever used for smoothing and moisturizing the skin.

The sugar and olive oil scrub is the best! I’ve been doing it for years! You can adjust the ratios of sugar and olive oil to your liking as well. Hope you like it!

Coconut oil is a great idea – such an all purpose moisturizer! I might have to try that too!
