Weekending (Getting a Bit More Personal)

Happy Labor Day Weekend!

This week felt like a long one for some reason; but as my hairdresser so aptly put it “better to be busy than broke,” so I really can’t complain! I’m lucky to have lots going on between my full-time job, managing The Lilac Press and everything in between. Sometimes it feels like it is all just too much, but I’m learning to prioritize to determine what is really important each day! My posting frequency here has dropped a little bit, but that should be changing soon! I have some fun little projects in the works that will be coming your way!

Getting a Bit More Personal

I’ve wanted to share a little bit more of my personal life here on the blog in the past, but I’ve struggled. Sometimes it is just easier to throw up an outfit post and explain why I like it or how I put it together. I’ve really shied away from sharing too much about myself, and maybe it’s just that I’m a more private person than I would like to be. The most personal post I’ve written to date is probably this one.

Faith + Values

As I’ve gotten older (I just had my twenty-fifth birthday…eek!), I’ve started to realize what is really important to me in my life. I grew up in a very Catholic household, and although I didn’t always appreciate getting up early on Sundays for church or going to CCD classes when I was young, I’ve grown more and more thankful that my parents brought me and my siblings up in the church. My faith has been something so powerful that has allowed me to feel like I am a part of something. It has really gotten me through some of those tougher times, especially when it comes to self-doubt.

Sometimes, it is easy to question whether or not this blog is all for nothing. But, it is something that makes me so happy and has provided such a fun and creative outlet for me, that I am so thankful I started. If I can inspire just one of you or brighten just one of your days, then I know it is all worth it!

I don’t mention my relationship much, but I must say that I feel so lucky that my boyfriend (who is not Catholic) came to church with me last weekend. He had come with me before, but in honor of my birthday, we went together again! He was such a good sport in supporting me and staying by my side for something that is so important to me, even though he is quite unfamiliar with it all. As I realized more and more that I do want my faith to continue to be a big part of my life, I am excited that I have someone by my side willing to support me in that.

Outfit Details

Today’s posts shows off my outfit that I wore for church last weekend and the to get some yummy treats afterward at Blackbird Doughnuts. I’ve posted about these doughnuts before here because they are just so delicious. A Sunday morning of church and doughnuts…you really can’t go wrong.

Skirt: Topshop | Blouse: Halogen | Cardigan: J.Crew | Shoes: Dolce Vita | Bag: Botkier

Thanks for reading today! I hope I was able to provide a little bit more of a glimpse into my life!

I love this skirt and awesome to hear you want to be more personal on the blog, I struggle with that myself. It’s that constant question of will people even want to read about that? haha Great post!

This is such a fun, girly look! I usually am not a big skirt person, but this one looks so fun! Also, dying over those shoes.

And getting a little bit personal on your blog is such a great thing to strive for! Outfit posts are so fun to read (and shop) but I love getting to read more about people and their lives!

Hey, Lady! Been meaning to comment on this post! I am so glad that we both love St.C’s and look forward to going more in the future with you! Also, I think this post brings up a really great point. I recently started dating again, and it is so important for your partner to respect and willingly try/participate in the values that are important to you! <3
