If you’re following along on Instagram and/or Snapchat (username: leigha_gardner), you might have seen that the Charles Hotel hosted us last weekend for a night in Cambridge. Sometimes a little staycation is such a treat, and it was honestly just what I needed amidst the craziness of summer schedules. The hotel just underwent a massive $20M renovation, so the room we stayed in was brand-new, completely pristine, and gorgeous. The best part was all the natural light that came in through the windows in the morning, offering up views of Cambridge.

We were spoiled with breakfast in bed, and it could not have felt better to be so pampered. If you go, you have to get the malted waffle with apple butter or the Henrietta’s homemade granola.

A little lounging/working session in bed was like a dream come true. Just a big comfy bed, my laptop, some coffee and some yummy granola, and I was one happy camper. Getting a few things done and relaxing a bit left me feeling so very refreshed by the time we (reluctantly) packed up our things and hit the road.

This low-key dress was perfect for bopping around the hotel square and exploring all the good places to eat. There are quite a few restaurants on site, and we were lucky enough to try Henrietta’s Table. I know this spot well for brunch. It was a family tradition for quite some time to visit Henrietta’s Table for both Mother’s Day and Father’s Day because we loved it so much. Since I knew brunch had been outstanding in the past, I knew dinner would be incredible as well.

The restaurant has a very farm-to-table theme, with lots of the goods sourced locally. We had a very delicious cheese board, made up primarily of Vermont cheeses. My favorite dish by far was a farro, quinoa, lentil & heirloom bean chili with cheddar & scallion empanadas. Definitely the option for vegetarians – very tasty, filling and healthy!

We had such a blast last weekend! Thank you to the Charles Hotel for having us!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
