Glazed Doughnuts

If yesterday’s gift guide got you thinking about how those small gestures are what really show someone that you care, why not bake something for your Valentine this year? Everybody loves a tasty treat, and one of my favorite go-to recipes is for these doughnuts! The best part? There are so many ways to decorate them! I made these for Valentine’s Day last year and topped them with pink and red dyed sugar. This year, I thought I’d switch it up a bit with a frosting glaze.

Don’t be intimidated by making doughnuts – all you really need is a doughnut pan – and these baked treats are a breeze to whip up. I always use this recipe from Ina Garten. It really is the best (I generally trust any recipe from Ina), and these are without fail always a huge hit! They are simple and satisfying, which is why people like them!

You can get really creative with the decorations. You might top them with cinnamon and sugar, like Ina suggests, but for Valentine’s day, I like to add a little more color. I mixed 2 cups of confectioner’s sugar with two tablespoons of whole milk for the white glaze. Then separately, I mixed the same together with a few drops of red food coloring to make the pink glaze. Then, I dipped each doughnut and topped with red sprinkles or drizzled with more colored icing.

One of these doughnuts is a pretty and tasty indulgence – sure to impress and show your Valentine how much you care!

Enjoy!

Seems like something that would score you big points if you brought them into the office to share with your co-workers.
