Beauty for Everyday

Do you love beauty products like I do? Do you love trying out new brands and refining your daily routine? Well, I’ve tried quite a few products (thankful for Sephora’s Beauty Insider program), so today I’m sharing my favorites that I use everyday.

My beauty routine is one of the things that gets me going in the morning. Like I mentioned in this post, taking a few minutes every day for self-care as a part of your daily beauty regimen is a great way to boost confidence. For me, it reduces stress and helps me to feel empowered to take on the day ahead. A key part of my morning ritual is my makeup routine. The most critical part of an everyday makeup look is to just keep it simple! This look never takes me more than about 10 minutes.

Concealer

I always start with the Nars Creamy Concealer in Vanilla under my eyes, as well as a swipe down my nose, around the sides of my nose and a little bit on my chin. Basically, I just use this product to cover any dark circles or red blotchiness. Then I blend with either a beauty blender sponge or my ring finger. Next, I always set the concealer with Laura Mercier Translucent Pressed Setting Powder (sold out right now, this is the Medium Deep shade) and this brush. This helps make sure it stays in place all day and doesn’t wear off.

Eyes

Next up: eyes! I reach for a simple eyelash curler and gently use it on each eye for about 3 seconds. Next, I swipe a thin stoke of a waterproof fine felt tip liner on the lash lines of my top lids only. Depending how I’m feeling, I might opt for a bit of a winged outer corner, and the Sephora Collection Fine Line Felt Tip Eyeliner makes this so easy. Then, I swipe on a coat or two of my Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. This helps separate and curl lashes even more and is a great base for the final coat of mascara that happens at the end of this whole routine.

Skin

I’ve been using bareMinerals Broad Spectrum SPF15 Foundation in medium beige for as long as I can remember, probably since the 7th grade. I am definitely not a fan of heavy or liquid foundations, so this lightweight powder provides all the coverage I need. If I want a full coverage look, I’ll use this bareMinerals Beautiful Finish Brush since it really packs a lot of product. If I’m going for a lighter coverage look, I’ll just dust a light layer using this bareMinerals Flawless Face Brush.

Then, my absolute must for a radiant look – blush! I’ve been using the Clarins Illuminating Cheek Color in Rosewood for an all over glow, concentrating on my cheeks. Unfortunately, the Cheek Color is currently unavailable, but this Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush is a very good alternative. This really adds a nice warmth to for a fair complexion like mine! I’ve been using this palette for ages – ever since my mom took me to Bloomingdale’s to check out the new Clarins counter when I was in high school. I’ve got to be on my tenth refill of this stuff – it’s certainly a tried and true favorite!

My second favorite blush is this Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Dim Infusion. I love that it has some more shimmer and a nice dose of pink. I’ve also gotten into the habit of coloring my eyelids just a little using a mini multitasker brush. This Sephora Collection Retractable Multitasker Brush is a good alternative to the one in the photo that is no longer available. It really is a great all-purpose brush, and I especially love it for dusting my eyelids and concentrating a little extra blush on my cheeks.

Brows

As a light skinned girl, I’ve been obsessed with making my brows pop. Since my eyebrows aren’t super dark, I’m always wishing they were fuller and thicker. The grass is always greener I guess though, right? While that may be the case, I’ve been able to satisfy my need for defined brows with some Anastasia Beverly Hills products, opting the classic brow powder in blonde, applied with a small brush. This Elf Cosmetics brush is a great alternative for the brush in the picture. Of course, I’ve got to set it in place with some tinted brow gel.

Lips

I have a lot of lipsticks, glosses, lip stains and tinted balms. In fact, several drawers of one of these acrylic chests are dedicated solely to lip products. My number one favorite moisturizing lip color is Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment with SPF 15 in Petal. I love the nude rose hue, and I love how much nourishment this product adds to my lips, making it great for everyday wear!

 Finishing Touches

Finally, we’re almost done! Just one final swipe of my absolute favorite mascara of all time – Benefit’s They’re Real! This really does exactly what the package says it will do and makes lashes appear longer! I’ve found that a coat or two of this stuff works wonders, especially in conjunction with Benefit’s other mascara mentioned above, Roller Lash!

Personally, I just love makeup! I have fun with it, and I enjoy putting it on. One of my favorite pastimes from college is getting ready with my friends and roommates for a night out and sharing makeup tips and tricks. It was how we bonded and sometimes those times spent in our dorms or apartments before we left for the night were actually more fun than whatever party we were headed to!

I have been looking for a good concealer; maybe I’ll ask for the Nars one for Christmas! Also, love roller dash!
