Fall Boho Braids Video Hair Tutorial

Style and beauty blogger, Leigha Gardner, of The Lilac Press sharing a fall hair video tutorial with small boho braids

Fall is in the air! That crisp edge in the air each morning truly gets me so excited for the festive season ahead. Pumpkin carving, Halloween costumes, apple picking, fall foliage, and all the cider doughnuts you can eat…it’s a wonderful time of year to be in New England.

With summer humidity on its way out, I always feel inspired to play with different hairstyles a bit more, especially those with loose, slightly messy boho vibes. Deliberately messy hairstyles don’t always work in the summer because the humidity just makes hair uncooperative. But, fall is a great time to go for that tousled, loosely pinned back hairstyle that you might have shied away from in the summer.

I teamed up with Hair Cuttery to share this boho braided half up hairstyle. It has been my go-to look recently. It is so easy but looks a lot more complicated than it is!

I chose to pin the hair back and to the side because I love how it looks when all my hair is to one side. It falls so nicely – especially if you throw a few curls in beforehand. I used a 1.5″ barrel wand for these, but you can see my technique here. Be sure to use a conditioning/shine product to keep this messy style still looking sleek. I love the Cibu argan oil treatment – part of the shine squad trio featured here.

This time of year is so special in the New England area. My boyfriend is from the Berkshires and I love the drive out there, especially when the fall foliage is out in full force. We are still a couple weeks away from the leaves being at their peak coloring, but I can’t wait!

I’ve had long hair for as long as I can remember, but this past year I’ve actually been focusing on growing it out. Hair Cuttery is always there for me whenever I need to trim off those dead ends – which is more often than you might think! I try to get a trim at least once a quarter. Plus, whenever I visit the salon, I leave with nourished hair and some of my favorite products. You can see more about my faves here.

Plus, if you want to keep your color looking great now that the summer sun has faded, you should try the REDKEN Color Extend Bonder Kit, a take-home 3-step system to continue protecting your hair at home after a color service! You can even get $10 off the kit with the purchase of any color service.
