Eastern Standard Easter Brunch

It’s become a bit of a tradition for us over the last few years to have Easter brunch at Eastern Standard in Kenmore Square after mass at the beautiful St. Cecilia’s. We love Eastern Standard not only for it’s classic brunch menu and raw bar, but also for its old school style, French brasserie decor. The dining experience often feels like a scene out of Mad Men, but with a modern flair.

We started with some tart “mocktails,” for pairing with our raw bar picks.  Appropriately called the “sophisticated lady,” this sassy drink of cranberry, lime and muddled cucumber is refreshingly perfect for spring.{Nail polish is Romper Room, a very light milky pink}

Eastern Standard and its sister restaurant, Island Creek Oyster Bar, are known for their locally raised oysters. These are some of our favorites for their mild flavor, so how could we not order up a dozen Easter oysters?!The breakfast breads are a must. Between the warm strawberry pinwheel, the hot cross bun and the homemade challah bread, the assortment was a perfect sampling for our party of four. After main courses of eggs benedict, burgers and more, we couldn’t help but indulge in some of the unique dessert choices shown below. We tried a pistachio cream puff and a honey pie with pickled rhubarb and rhubarb sorbet. Both were refreshing and embodied the spring vibes that are starting to take over New England right now.And here’s a little dose of our sister style. We’re struggling to stay warm, while yearning to wear our spring clothes. Canvas jackets, off-white dresses and a scarf for a pop of color are just what seemed to fit the bill yesterday.
