Dry Shampoo

Everyone knows that you are not supposed to wash your hair every day. Sometimes I do get into the habit of washing my hair on a daily basis, and not only does my hair dresser scold me for inducing unnecessary dryness, but I also feel like my hair starts to need to be washed more often. Constantly stripping it of its natural oils causes the scalp to produce more oil faster.

I’ve tried lots of different shampoos and alternative washing methods, like this one, for example. What I have found is that a good shampoo with natural ingredients (this is my current favorite) is fine to wash your hair every other day (sometimes every two days). On the off days, however, its hard to feel as clean and fresh. Let’s face it: there’s nothing like leaving the apartment in the morning with a fresh blowout. When skipping a day, try one of the dry shampoos to look polished for any occasion.favorite dry shampoosClockwise from top left:

Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo // This was my go-to for a long time – really the past several years before I started to branch out. The powder definitely absorbs oil and works especially well with light hair. Be sure to rub through all the powder, because it doesn’t blend particularly well.

Drybar Detox // This works by far the best. With just a few spritzes, hair looks freshly blown out, light and fluffy. The scent is a little bit strong, so if you have a sensitive nose like I do, use in moderation.

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo // This one is hands down my favorite. It works exceptionally well without making hair overly powdery or chalky. The scent is clean and slightly fruity/citrusy but also mild, making it my number one choice.

Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo Spray // This is a variation of number one on the list but in a convenient spray for even distribution, making it a top contender.

Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo // This is an easy drugstore find that works in a pinch without the heftier price tag of other brands.

Bed Head Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo // I stumbled across this at Target one day and decided to try it out. I bought a travel size version of it, and loved it so much I ended up carrying it around with me everywhere for emergencies (read: mornings when I got a late start).

What are some of your favorite brands? I’d love to know!
