Do you ever get the blues? Me too! I don’t mean feeling down, I just mean getting stuck on blue hues! I feel this way quite a bit. As I was packing for an upcoming trip to Martha’s Vineyard, I laid out everything to go in my suitcase and I had to laugh at myself. Every single piece I planned to pack had some sort of blue tones in it. Plus, almost everything was striped as well! You might say I have a problem; however, I just find myself vibing with blues and stripes in the summertime – perfect for nautical adventures.

Next to pinks and blush tones, blues have always called to me. I think it is because blue brings out the color of my eyes or that friends and family always complimented me when wearing blue. Either way, I know it is a color that works for me. When I was little, almost everything I owned, from winter jackets to backpacks to my clothes were either some variation of blue or pink. I can safely say that’s still true today. I guess some things just never change. Can you relate?

When I found this stunning blue color blocked dress, I knew it would be a perfect addition to my summer wardrobe. On a hot, steamy day during a recent visit to NYC, I threw this little number on. Its loose and flowing style made it an ideal candidate for helping me stay cool in the New York summer swelter. We took these photos in the early morning before a long day of meetings. Fortunately, those first rays of sunlight are always my favorite and worth the early wake up call.

I picked up these mirrored sunnies on a whim when I forgot a pair. They are super lightweight, and I don’t get red marks on the bridge of my nose when wearing them. Mirrored lenses are very on trend right now, and I love they way they really “pop” in photos. The rounded twist on the classic aviator style is a win in my book; definitely a great purchase.

^^This dress runs a little big, so I recommend sizing down. Since it is already a bit loose, it isn’t as flattering if it’s too big, so be sure to keep that in mind!

Blues and stripes are always part of my style arsenal, especially in the summer time. No matter the occasion, blue tones are always appropriate.

Who else has the blues (in a good way) in the summertime?!
