Checking in with 2016 Goals

2016goals_thelilacpress

Now that we are well into our second month of 2016, today’s post is just meant to be a little reminder to check in with the goals/resolutions you may have made for the year! It’s important to remember that goals are not static and can change throughout the course of a year. A year is a really long time and anything can happen. There is no use in striving for a particular objective just because you told yourself you would  – when it is no longer relevant or attainable! Reevaluating what you want and what you need and adjusting your goals to meet those needs can make you just as happy and successful in the long-run.

I mentioned how I organized my goals for the year in this post, and here are the questions I’m asking myself to reevaluate them:

  1. Career: What progress have I made throughout the month of January? Where do I see myself at the end of the year? What do I need to do to get there?
  2. Financial: Should my savings goals be more aggressive? Are my budgets set for January realistic? Am I being smart about where I put my money?
  3. Personal: Am I being a good daughter, sister, friend? Am I eating right? Have I been managing stress properly? Should I be exercising more? Am I happy?

Even if it’s something small, there is always something (or a few things) I have in the back of my mind each day that keep me going.

Remember – always be striving for something!

I always have to re-evaluate my goals in life, I think it’s a sign of growth and there’s nothing wrong with that! x

I decided this year would be the year I finally grow my savings and pay down debt. It’s tough, but it’s a good idea, like you said, to check in with yourself regularly. I’m sure you’ll be successful!

It’s so true–reevaluating goals can help you stay on track and focused on what you can realistically accomplish. I also like breaking down my new years resolutions into monthly goals to make it more manageable.

Monthly goals are a great idea! Even when checking in regularly, a year-long goal can still seem overwhelming!

I struggled to keep up with my goals in January, even though I only set them up in January… I have been trying to start again so maybe I need to reevaluate what is possible and what isn’t 🙂
