Wintertime Pops of Color
Winter in New England is quite finicky lately. Although we just got well over a foot of snow yesterday, just a few days ago it was 55 degrees! Despite my continuous checking of my weather app, the constant highs and lows of the temperature make it pretty difficult to decide how to dress each day.
A few weeks ago, I was invited to a cocktail party to celebrate the opening of the brand new restaurant, Benedetto, at The Charles Hotel. I know I mentioned recently that I’ve been gravitating more toward neutrals, blacks and grays this winter, but I was determined to wear some sort of color for the event. It was forecasted to be warm that day (it was actually almost 60 degrees when we took these photos), so I knew I had a little more flexibility in what I could wear.
^^How pretty are these lights? I always love The Charles Hotel and the promenade area outside is so festive, even on a wet, dreary day!
Transitional Season Shopping Struggle
This time of year always seems to be a bit difficult for shopping. I love browsing my favorite sites online and perusing local shops; and I always want EVERYTHING. However, when I actually have somewhere to go and actually need a new outfit, I can never seem to find anything! All I found online that I loved was this Vince mock neck tank.
The night before the event, I found myself wandering aimlessly at the mall tired and exhausted after a long day of working and battling traffic. Popping into every single store, I honestly found nothing that I loved. I know it is awkward timing with the holiday/winter styles on their way out and the resort/spring styles on their way in, but just before I was about to leave empty handed, I hit up Club Monaco and fell in love with this striped midi! (Club Monaco always delivers for me). The perfect pops of blue, blush and lavender were just the right amount of color for my otherwise all black look.

We had so much fun at Benedetto and at the hotel that night! We even had the most delicious breakfast in bed that I (obviously) Instagrammed (@thelilacpress). I’ve had those waffles on multiple occasions and they are seriously my favorite (especially with the apple butter on the side)!
Has anyone else had trouble shopping for an outfit this time of year? Any tips?
