The Nordstrom Sale is verrrry tempting. It’s actually quite overwhelming for anyone, really. It’s easy to get tempted and to end up spending more money than you may have wanted to. To make this easier, try to use the following strategies:

One //
Make a list of all the things you need for fall before even looking at the sale. For example, I know that I need some new boots, a new warm fall jacket (preferably a quilted jacket that is a little longer), and a few fall wardrobe staples like skirts, tops, and dresses.

Two //
Armed with your shopping list, head to the Nordstrom sale page and filter and sort! Once I’m in a category, say coats & jackets, I always sort by price: lowest to highest. I like to scroll through quickly to see what is available at each end of the spectrum and what I can expect to get for my budget. If I know the coats I want are in the $50-$100 price range, I will then filter on that criteria. This narrows down the options, so you can sift through everything on the site to make sure you are looking at those items that you really want and need (and can afford)!

Three //
Set a limit for yourself. My strategy for this sale is to shop everything under $100. Even if you see something you really love and have to have that’s above your self imposed limit, bookmark it, but keep looking for other options. You just may find something you like better at a more affordable price. I even use this strategy in the grocery store. Trader Joe’s anyone? I like to find all the best buys that are under $2.00. You would be surprised at all the TJ’s gems that are marked at $1.99. Just be patient, and you will find the perfect pieces for your wardrobe that also fall in your budget. This way, you can be purely excited about them and not have any of the guilt of overspending!

Be sure to hover over the image above, because you can shop each by clicking on it directly. Each piece I’ve picked out is under $100 (and currently in my shopping cart).
