Black + White with Tangoella

Black and white always have been and always will be such a classic combination, especially in a bold print like this one from Tangoella. In the summertime, there aren’t usually too many dark hues in my closet, but this patterned dress is my favorite exception. Recently, at a promotional blogger photoshoot with Silkstaq, I met the wonderful Ella – the designer behind the classic and modern brand, Tangoella. She brought loads of dresses and tops for all of the girls to play dress up with for the shoot (see more here). I immediately picked out this black & white number because I knew the pattern, in conjunction with the fit of the dress, would be just my style. The weight of the material is heavy enough to give the dress some structure, but not too heavy to feel constricting for a summer dress. On a hot and humid summer day, I paired the dress with a light, white blazer and some red accents for a bold look.

The shorter cut (but not too short) makes this dress perfect for summer! The fuller skirt also lends well to the feminine nature of the dress; however, at our shoot in Boston’s seaport, I definitely had a few Marilyn moments – eek! Want to know an embarrassing secret? I know the photographer had to delete quite a few photos since all of our dresses kept blowing up! This dress is definitely better for less windy days 🙂

I had originally wanted to pair this dress with my favorite denim jacket, for a more cool and casual vibe. Ultimately, I decided against that notion since I have been really wearing that jacket more often than not (seen here and here as well as in another post coming to you soon)! A good white blazer (mine is a few years old from trust H&M) is a must in the summer. Just like a good denim jacket, it can be paired with almost anything. You never know when you might get a bit chilly in the evenings, and sometimes a cardigan doesn’t lend itself well to your overall look. This is where a fun jacket comes into play!

What are some of your summer wardrobe staples?

I love those shoes and dress! So cute. I also love how you paired a red purse with it.
