7 Must-Do Activities This Spring

Each year I find myself so thankful that spring is finally arriving and promising myself I will take full advantage, but it seems like this pretty season is all over in the blink of an eye. It’s not that I don’t love the summer that follows, but it is the fact that spring is just so special in it’s own regard. With our day-to-day lives being so crazy, it is easy to get caught up with work and daily “to-dos,” that it is sometimes difficult to take a step back to stop and smell the roses (or to stop and sip the rosé – as some would say). So, in an effort to appreciate all that is spring this year, here is my own little spring “to-do list:”

  1. Color Easter eggs Here are mine from last year, and I want to get extra creative with this year’s eggs. Dyeing Easter eggs was always one of my favorite pasttimes as a kid, and I still look forward to doing it again each year.
  2. Visit a farmer’s market – I don’t make the time and effort to do this enough. Although the roomies and I subscribe to a local farmshare, I very much enjoy visiting the market to see for myself what is in season and looking good.
  3. Have a picnic – Once you’ve got the goods from the farmer’s market, put together a little picnic to take to the park. All you really need is some fresh fruits and veggies and perhaps some cheese and crackers. Spread it all out on a blanket and enjoy the weather and the people watching….admittedly, one of my favorite things to do.
  4. Take a road trip – Even if just locally to the mountains or to the beach, take a day trip to escape the grind and enjoy nature that is blooming all around! I loved visiting Mt. Greylock here, and that trip was just what I needed to clear my head.
  5. Go on a bike ride – Or a jog. Or a hike. Just get out there and be active! Not using your gym membership? Well, I don’t blame you because mine is nonexistent currently, but once the weather is warmer, I love to stay active outdoors!
  6. Spring clean the closet – The bulky sweaters and winter coats and vests that are currently taking over my closet have got to go. I don’t know about yours, but in order to make room for a new spring/summer wardrobe, my closet is in dire need of a serious purge. It always feels so good to donate/sell/store as much as possible so that every piece deemed worthy of staying has its own place to live once again. I can’t be the only one who struggles with this, and following these 7 rules helps a lot. One rule that my mom has always taught me to live by is the one-year rule: if you haven’t worn it in the past year, you never will…get rid of it.
  7. Plan a vacation – An island paradise? An adventure to a foreign country? A weekend getaway? A visit to a new state? I love having a trip planned to look forward to. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, but having something to plan for is a nice break from the day-to-day rhythm. I just might have a fun little last minute trip coming up next month…here’s a clue! 🙂

What are your must-do spring activities?

After all the sweaters I accumulated this winter, I’d say it was an absolute must 🙂
